Nine small species developing as larvae in flower buds, and whose adults feed on pollen. The genera have distinctive host preferences: Brachypterus on nettles (Urtica), Brachypterolus on Linaria and Antirrhinum (Scrophulariaceae), and Kateretes on rushes (Juncus) and sedges (Carex) in wetlands.
