One indigenous species, Dryophthorus corticalis (subfamily Dryophthorinae) is a scarce inhabitant of decaying wood in oaks (Quercus) in Britain. In contrast, the three species of Sitophilus (subfamily Rhynchophorinae) are cosmopolitan, stored product pests associated with cereals.
