Description
 
a sub-family of the Chrysomelidae
Background to Family
 
Eight metallic, or otherwise brightly coloured, beetles feeding externally on foliage. Lema cyanella and Oulema spp. feed on thistles (Asteraceae) and grasses (including cereals), respectively. The economic pests Lilioceris lilii and Crioceris asparagi feed on lilies (Liliaceae) and asparagus (Asparagus officinalis), respectively.
