a family of orthocerous weevils
Background to Family
 
A small group of weevils with diverse habits. Some members of the Anthribinae are associated with dead wood and bracket fungi, Anthribus parasitises scale insects (Hemiptera: Coccoidea) on trees. The larvae of Bruchela rufipes (Urodontinae) develop in the fruits of mignonettes (Reseda).In the Choraginae, Choragus sheppardi is found on dead ivy (Hedera helix), and Araecerus fasciculatus is a cosmopolitan stored product pest.
