The larvae mostly feed on the foliage, stems or flower-heads of a disparate array of herbaceous, dicot plants. Some genera specialise on particular hosts, e.g. Agdistis on sea lavenders (Limonium), and Oxyptilus, Platyptilia and Leioptilus on Asteraceae.
