a family of 'micro-moths'
Background to Family
 
Virtually all the members (Mompha) mine, bore or induce galls in willowherbs (Onagraceae), where they exploit leaves, roots, stems and seed-pods. Certain species may be bivoltine or gregarious as larvae. The exception, M. miscella, mines leaves of rock-roses (Helianthemum).
