Eleven resident species in the genus Bucculatrix. Most larvae initially feed in a leaf mine, and later on the undersides of leaves. They feed on herbaceous Asteraceae and broadleaved trees and shrubs; individual species usually exploit one or several hosts within one family.

Old data currently unassessed by a specialist for new species to the British list, new interactions, and errors in original sources. Nomenclature and misspellings were corrected, for records entered up to 1985, by R M Smith in 2007. New material added from Emmet, A.M., Ed. (1992) The moths and butterflies of Great Britain and Ireland, Vol. 7, Part 2. Harley Books, Colchester.; The Bucculatricidae was previously treated as a sub-family of the Lyonetiidae;
