prominent and kitten moths
Background to Family
 
Foliage feeders on broadleaved trees and shrubs. Individual species are typically confined to a few hosts- usually among the birches, alders, poplars and willows, or oaks. More rarely do polyphagy or monophagy occur. The chocolate-tips (Pygaerinae) hide among spun leaves on willows and poplars.
