a sub-family of the Noctuidae
Background to Family
 
A small group of disparate moths. Tyta luctuosa specialises on field bindweed (Convolvulus arvensis); the blacknecks (Lygephila) on leguminous herbs; Scoliopteryx libatrix mainly on willows (Salix) and poplars (Populus); and Phytometra viridaria on milkworts (Polygala).
