A family displaying a wide range of omnivory, from species that are largely herbivorous (e.g. Leptophyes punctatissima) to those that are carnivorous as adults (Meconema thalassinum). Bush-crickets use a wider range of host plants than do grasshoppers, feeding on dicot herbs and shrubs, and sedges and rushes, in addition to grasses.
