Adults are usually covered in wax, and females are frequently parthenogenetic. Of the juvenile stages, only the 1st instar is mobile; the penultimate and ultimate instars are termed prepupal and pupal, respectively. Species recorded in Britain include non-native, polyphagous pests found in glasshouses.
