Background to Family
 
Plant lice that mainly overwinter either as nymphs or as adults on a shelter plant. They feed mainly on docks (Polygonaceae; Aphalara) and composites (Asteraceae; Craspedolepta). Other hosts include rosebay willowherb (Chamaerion angustifolium), ericaceous shrubs (Erica, Calluna) and deciduous broadleaved trees (Populus, Acer).
