a family of aphids
Background to Family
 
Forty species that usually have an annual life cycle and parthenogenetic, live-bearing females. There is no host alternation, and ant-attendance is common. The Eulachnini and Lachnini occur on a wide range of woody plants, and the Tramini mainly on roots of Asteraceae.

Data currently unassessed by a specialist for changes in nomenclature, new species to the British list, new interactions, errors in original sources, and misspellings.; The Lachnidae is now treated as a sub-family (Lachninae) of the Aphididae (Blackman & Eastop, 2000).;
