Background to Family

Small to medium-sized bugs with divergent habits. Members of the Cymini (Cymus) lay their eggs in the flowerheads of sedges (Carex), rushes (Juncus), and club-rushes (Scirpus). They are also recorded from a range of wetland plants. Members of the Berytinini are typified by elongate legs and antennae. They are associated with a range of herbaceous plants, especially legumes, in dry, grassy habitats. Some will feed on insects.
