Family

Alydidae
Sub Family

Description

a family of bugs
Background to Family

The sole member of the family, Alydus calcaratus, is unusual because the nymphs resemble ants, and they have been recorded in the nests of numerous ant species. There remains some doubt as to the foodplants of adults, which have also been recorded at carrion.
