Background to Family

The life histories of the 12 members of the family are poorly known. Nymphs of all species are believed to feed on the roots of plants, in wax-lined cells underground. Adults have been recorded from vegetation in a wide range of habitats. All the records in the database refer to unspecified hosts.

Notes

Data currently unassessed by a specialist for changes in nomenclature, new species to the British list, new interactions, errors in original sources, and misspellings. Following a brief inspection in 2007, Alan Stewart judged that the data for the Auchenorrhyncha were very out-of-date, because a large body of knowledge has accrued since the last update.; ;
