Background to Family
 
Most records refer to adults of Orsodacne feeding on the pollen and anthers of flowers. They use a wide range of herbaceous plants, shrubs and both broadleaved and coniferous trees, but particularly Rosaceae. Larval hosts are unknown for the scarce O.humeralis, while O.cerasi possibly develops in the apical shoots of oaks (Quercus).
